My New White Bedroom

white walls in a bedroom

It was just brought to my attention that I haven't had a decorating post in a while. I didn't realize how long it had been.  How time flies when you're having fun and fun for me is painting! I recently painted my bedroom white and what a difference it makes. It is one of my missions in life to convince all doubters out there that white is not only a COLOR but a GREAT COLOR for walls.  My bedroom had previously been painted a sad beige and I'm sorry but beige does not go with everything! I love white because it does go with everything and it makes a room feel so fresh, light and bright. If you have been following my blog before this, you know that I have been slowly transitioning my house from builder beige to white. Here are some other rooms that I have painted white:

The Entry

The Living Room
The Laundry Room

The Dining Room

You might say, "But Alyssa, white walls are boring." Well, they can be if you don't have anything else in a room. But the fact is there will be furniture, fabrics, artwork and accessories that will be the interest in the room. You will have a blank canvas so that you can do anything and even change your color scheme often without having to completely repaint walls. It actually took me a long time to realize that I loved white walls. It has always been a habit of mine to pull photos out of magazines of rooms that I like. One day, after going through my pile of accumulated pictures, I noticed that all of the rooms had one thing in common... yes, you guessed it...white walls.

So maybe I haven't convinced you to do it for yourself but hopefully, I have at least convinced you not to be a hater of  painted white walls!

  1. Hi Alyssa, I am so thrilled to see a post from you. And I love your white walls.....I actually have an older pic of your dining room pinned. It has light cream walls and a Cafe colored ceiling. I always loved it but now I love this too. I am just working on my dining room. In a couple of weeks my husband is leaving for 2 weeks and I am planning to re-paint the dining room. Would LOVE it if you would give me a little input!!! Would it be ok to send you a picture???? HUGS to Texas! Christine from Little Brags

    1. Hi Christine! Great to hear from you. Of course I would be happy to help. Do you still have my email? Send me pics. and let me know what you have questions about. The funny thing is the Dining and Bedroom are the same color. They just look different because of the lighting. I use a color called powdered snow from Behr. It is great because it is not too creamy or too white but I do usually have to do 2 coats to get the shade right.
